Tom Shack, an experienced legal veteran with over 24 years of expertise in the legal and business industries, leads a highly specialized appellate group that focuses on criminal appeals in Massachusetts.
For more than a decade, Tom was a senior state prosecutor in Massachusetts, where he litigated over 100 jury trials and dozens of appellate matters before state and federal courts. Tom's extensive background in state and federal courts brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in legal, financial, and business matters, which is highly valuable to his clients. As both a consultant and attorney, Tom is sought-after for his strategic guidance and deep understanding of business and the law.
Aside from his legal practice, Tom served as the Comptroller of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts from 2015-2019. He led the financial and legal operations of a vast state government that included 152 departments, over 125,000 employees, and an annual expenditure of more than $65 billion. As Comptroller, Tom was a four-time winner of the Government Finance Officers Association Award for Excellence in Financial Reporting.
Tom holds a Juris Doctor (JD) degree from New England Law l Boston, where he won the Dean's award and was editor-in-chief of the school's law journal and where he is now an adjunct faculty member. He obtained his Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Bachelor of Arts (BA) degrees from the American University, and he is licensed to practice law in Massachusetts and Washington, D.C.
Nancy Shack is a highly accomplished attorney specializing in appellate and media law. With an unwavering passion for justice and a deep understanding of the legal system, she has established herself as a prominent figure in these complex and challenging areas of law both as an advocate and a media personality for more than 30 years.
After graduating from law school, Nancy began her legal career as a clerk for a renowned appellate judge. This invaluable experience allowed her to gain a comprehensive understanding of the intricacies involved in trial and appellate work. Her exceptional research and writing skills, combined with her ability to analyze complex legal issues, quickly set her apart as a rising star in the field.
Driven by a desire to protect the rights of individuals and ensure fair outcomes, Nancy transitioned into private practice, focusing primarily on criminal appeals. Over the years, she has successfully represented numerous clients, ranging from individuals wrongfully convicted to those seeking post-conviction relief. Her dedication to her clients' causes, coupled with her meticulous attention to detail, has resulted in numerous favorable outcomes.
